ARCATA, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team brought forth a great effort on the road Friday afternoon, but fell short in its contest at Humboldt State, 4-2, at College Creek Field.
The Pioneers responded after each of Humboldt State's goals in the first half, and were knotted at 2-2 well into the second half when the Lumberjacks' Ethan Water scored on a penalty kick in the 76th minute.
CSUEB sophomore
Michael Francisco Ajoleza put the Pioneers on the scoreboard with his goal in the 17th minute off freshman
Ishmam Rahman's corner kick to tie the game 1-1. It was Francisco Ajoleza's second goal of the season and Rahman's second assist of the year.
Junior
Tommy Flora followed by finding the back of the net for the second-consecutive game, as the Sacramento, Calif., native knocked in a goal off a throw in by freshman Nick Lamanna in the 48th minute to pull the Pioneers even, 2-2. The assist was Lamanna's first of his young career.
Francisco had a team-best three shots on goal, while freshman goalkeeper
Sean O'Brien finished with eight saves.
