SAN FRANCISCO — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team had control of the majority of Sunday afternoon's contest at San Francisco State, but couldn't hold on in a 2-1 defeat at Cox Stadium.
The Pioneers came out aggressive early as junior
Tommy Flora scored in the 11th minute off an assist from freshman
Mateo Didomenico. The Sacramento native found the back of the net for the third-consecutive game, knocking through a shot into the lower right corner to take a 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers led until 63rd minute, when SF State (8-3, 5-2 CCAA) responded with a goal by Crinan Dunbar. The Gators scored the deciding goal in the 89th minute.
Sophomores
Jacob Castro and
Michael Francisco Ajoleza both had a shot on target, while sophomore goalkeeper
Juan Diego Escalante finished with four saves.
Cal State East Bay (2-10, 0-6) returns to action at home next weekend, as the Pioneers play host to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 25 and Cal State LA on Oct. 27.
