CHICO, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team wrapped up the Sierra Central Wildcat Classic at Butte Creek Country Club with their highest team finish so far on the season. The Pioneers tied with Cal State San Marcos for a fifth place finish out of 14 total teams.

East Bay shot 891 as a team after posting a 294 and 293 through the first two rounds. CSUEB concluded the final day by shooting a 304 on Tuesday morning.

Freshman
Moses Greene logged a top 12 finish to pace the Pioneers for his highest finish of the season. Greene finished tied for 13th after carding a 76 and a 73 before firing a weekend best 71 in the final round to finish at 220.

Senior
Max Murai also turned in a great tournament performance as her logged a top 20 finish completing the Wildcat Classic tied for 19th overall. Murai shot a 221 for the weekend after registering a team best 69 in the opening round of action. Murai followed up with 74 and 78 in the final two rounds.

Fellow senior
Joey Herrera compiled a 222 total through three rounds to finish tied for 21st. Herrera kicked off the tournament by shooting a 73 in the first round. He then came back to put together a 72 and 77 in the last two rounds.

Freshman
Fraser Owenson tallied a 229 total to finish tied for 41st at the Wildcat Classic. Owenson started off by shooting a 76 in the opening round, then he shot 74 and a 79 in the second and third rounds.

Ryan Hong finished with a 238 which was tied for 64th after shooting a pair of 80's in the first and second rounds. Hong concluded the tournament by firing a 78 in the final round.

The Pioneers will look to build on this momentum as they travel to Seaside, Calif., to take on some of the best teams in the West Region at the Otter Invitational taking place October 20-22.
