HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will return to action with a pair of home contests against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.

East Bay has a record of 8-11 on the season with a 5-8 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. The Pioneers are 4-5 in road games and 3-6 in games played at home.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team completed the season sweep over Stanislaus State with a 49-44 victory on Saturday evening, January 27 in Turlock. East Bay defeated Stan State 63-48 on January 3rd in Hayward.

East Bay used to tremendous defense effort to come away with the road victory as they held the hometown Warriors to just 26 percent shooting from the field for the ball game with only 14 made field goals. Stan State went 23 percent from three-point range for the game as they carried a 24-22 lead into the intermission.

Cal State East Bay forced Stan State into 22 turnovers that accumulated into 17 points. The Pioneers recorded a shutout as they allowed no fast break points nor second-chance buckets from the Warriors.

Senior
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash.) notched her team-leading seventh double-double of season wit 12 points and 16 rebounds. McGill knocked down two-three pointers to go along with two assists and two steals on a team-high 36 minutes of action.

The Pioneers outscored the Warriors 21-11 in the final quarter after only scoring six in the third quarter. East Bay began to catch fire as they went 9-for-19 in the second half including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.

A key component in the victory for CSUEB was their bench production. The Pioneer reserves outscored the Warrior bench 23-14 led by 11 points from
Regina Sankey (San Jose, Calif.). Sankey added seven rebounds and paced the Pioneers with four steals. She now has four consecutive double-figure scoring games.

Madison Schiller (Ridgecrest, Calif.,) compiled nine points in 20 minutes as a reserve. Schiller tallied two rebounds, two assists with three made free throws in the contest. Kayley Hsuing (Bakersfield, CA) scored nine points on a team-high three made three-points field goals.

The Pioneers also scored 22 paint points while outrebounding the Warriors 43-33.
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) dished out a team-best four assists to add with her six rebounds and three points across 31 minutes.
Faith Turner (Auburn, Wash.) also grabbed six rebounds with a team-high three blocks and two points.

PIONEER POINTS
Savannah McGill leads the Pioneers in minutes, points, rebounding, assists, and blocks for the season, and she's one of just six CCAA players currently averaging more than 10 rebounds per game. McGill is second in the conference and tied for 8th in the nation with 11.9 rebounds per game and ninth in the CCAA with 17 blocks. She has eight double doubles on the season including five double doubles in league play and has grabbed 13 or more rebounds in eight of the last nine games.

Elayshia Woolridge has come on strong over the last two months. Woolridge leads the Pioneers with 10.8 points in CCAA action including double figures scoring in nine of the last 12 games. She is second on the team with 2.5 assists through 30.4 minutes per outing.

Regina Sankey has played well of late for Cal State East Bay. Sankey has notched double figures in four consecutive contests. She is averaging 13.0 points and 5.7 rebounds on 46.5 percent shooting through 25.7 minutes per game across those four contests.

Pioneers ranks as the top defensive team in the CCAA. They're first in the league in scoring defense (59.9 ppg) and third in opponent field goal percentage (.363). They have also been effective defending the three-point arc, holding teams to 29.0 percent. East Bay has performed impressively on the glass, ranking first among the 13 CCAA schools in rebounding defense (35.7) and third in the league in total rebounds with 770.

SCOUTING CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO
The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes come into the matchup with East Bay carrying an 8-10 record on the season with a 7-7 mark in conference action after defeating SF State before falling to Sonoma State last week. Jasmine Sauser is leading CSUSB with 17.2 points and 5.4 rebounds. Kayla Bibb is adding 7.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per outing for the Coyotes. Cal State San Bernardino topped East Bay 64-59 in overtime on January 12 at Coussoulis Arena.

SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA
The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos are ranked second in the CCAA with a 16-2 overall mark and a 12-1 record in league play after back-to-back wins over Sonoma State and San Francisco State. Jordyn Shane leads the Broncos with 14.2 points and 2.8 assists. Rebecca Islas is chipping in 12.8 points and 8.6 rebounds for Cal Poly Pomona. CPP defeated CSUEB 68-66 on January 10 in Pomona at Kellogg Arena.
