HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer program fell, 3-2 in extra minutes to visiting West Region foe Holy Names Saturday night, September 29 at Pioneer Stadium.

With the loss the Pioneers move to 5-4-1 on the season with a 3-2-1 mark at Pioneer Stadium. It was East Bay's first loss to Holy Names since the 2008 season.

Junior
Jamie McPherson (San Leandro, Calif.) scored her first and second goals of the 2018 season in a huge night for CSUEB. McPherson got the Pioneers on the board in the 15th minute of action as she placed a shot to the bottom right of the net on a pass through from sophomore
Lauren McDougal (Elk Grove, Calif.). Her second score was a header to the top center of the net as she was assisted by senior
Savannah Schultz (Folsom, Calif.).

Despite the unwanted outcome for Cal State East Bay, it was not for lack of effort nor aggressiveness. The Pioneer attempted a season best 31 shots with 15 shots coming on goal. The Hawks were able to make the most of their opportunities as they only took six shots with four shots coming on goal.

Junior
Chace Miguel (Hollister, Calif.) paced East Bay with eight shot attempts with four shots on goal.
Jamie McPherson put up seven shot attempts with four shots on goal.
Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.) compiled six shot attempts including three shots on goal while
Savannah Schultz notched five shots with one shot on goal.
Miranda Gonzalez (Santa Rosa, Calif.) tallied three shots and a shot on goal and both of
Lauren McDougal's shots came on goal.

The Hawks had goals by Kirsten Phillips in the 23rd minute and a game winning goal by Abbi Alexander in the 95th minute of action. Their second goal of the match was an own goal curtesy of the Pioneers.

Freshman
Briana Vasquez-Ortiz (Long Beach, Calif.) logged one save on the night through over 95 minutes of game action.

The Pioneers will return to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play with three straight road matches against Cal State LA, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Monterey Bay.
