LA JOLLA, Calif., -- The Pioneer softball team concluded their four game road California Collegiate Athletic Association series against #25 UC San Diego with a 9-3 loss Saturday afternoon, March 10 at Triton Softball Field.

With the win UC San Diego swept the series over East Bay as the Pioneers moved to 9-17 on the season and 5-15 in conference action.

The Pioneers were able to find plenty of offense on Saturday as they compiled a series best 10 hits. East Bay found themselves down early as the Tritons jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the opening two innings of action.

East Bay would pull within one run with two runs in the top of the third inning. But the home team would rally off five runs in the next to innings to secure the series finale win.

Courtney Leyba (Huntington Beach, Calif.) paced the Pioneers with three hits, including a double and a run scored.
Bailee Glover (Reno, Nev.) wrapped up a strong weekend in Southern California with another multi-hit performance finishing the afternoon with two hits and two RBI.

Maddie Ramirez (Chino Hills, Calif.) and
Bailee Aguigui (Vacaville, Calif.) also tallied multi-hit games Saturday afternoon. Ramirez added two hits and scored a run while Aguigui went 2-for-3 from the plate.

Jennifer Palmares (Elk Grove, Calif.) notched a hit and one run scored for East Bay.

A trio of East Bay hurlers saw action in Saturday's series finale.
Olivia McWhorter (L, 2-4) (Cypress, Calif.) got the start and wen 2.0 innings with a strikeout and only one walked batter.
Bailee Glover also saw time in the circle finishing with a strikeout and only allowing one hit in 1.1 innings of action.
Abby Greer (Beaverton, Ore.) led the Pioneers with three strikeouts through 2.2 innings.

Cal State East Bay will return to Hayward for a four game series against the visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks March 16-17 at Pioneer Softball Field.
