Pioneer Women's Basketball Visit Warriors for Regular Season Finale

HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will conclude their 2017-18 regular season with a road matchup against California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponent Stanislaus State on Thursday evening, February 22 at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
 
The Pioneers are currently sitting sixth in the CCAA Standings with an overall record of 15-12 and a conference mark of 10-10.
 
WEEK IN REVIEW
The Pioneer women's basketball concluded Senior Night with a, 77-56 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over visiting Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday night, February 10 in Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
East Bay shook off a tough shooting first half, 9-for-30 (30.0%) to come away with the big victory. The Pioneers was also cold from long distance as well 1-for-8 (12.5%). A frigid first half from the field had the Pioneers down, 26-23 at the intermission.
 
Sophomore Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) paced the Pioneers with a game-high 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field. Greene added nine rebounds two blocks and an assist in 31 minutes of action.
 
The Pioneers narrowly edged out the Otters in bout painted area points and rebounds. CSUEB outrebounded Monterey Bay, 39-38 while outscoring them in the paint 32-30 for the contest.
 
The East Bay reserves compiled 22 points led by 14 points from senior guard Bri Guillory (Long Beach, Calif.)  on 3-for-5 shooting from the floor. Guillory added three rebounds and three steals while going 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.
 
Kayley Hsiung (Bakersfield, Calif.) notched 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the court, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.
 
The Pioneers would battle back after the intermission as they outscored the Otters 43-31 in the second half of play. East Bay shot 53.8% (14-for-26) while going 4-for-10 in the three-point range.
 
Senior guard Janae Chamois (Eastvale, Calif.) chipped in seven points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes. Junior guard Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) also finished with seven points, a game best five assists, four rebounds as foul trouble limited her to just 22 minutes.
 
PIONEER POINTS
Already a two-time CCAA Player of the Week this season, Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) had another solid final game in Pioneer Gymnasium. Greene fell one rebound shy of her seventh consecutive double-double with a 17 point and nine rebound performance against Cal State Monterey Bay.
 
For the season, Greene holds the second-highest rebounding average in the nation (12.8 rpg). She also leads the CCAA in field goal percentage (.558) and ranks fifth in scoring (16.1 ppg). Greene is second in the country with 20 double-doubles on the season.
 
Junior guard Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) is averaging 13.1 points and 28.6 through 22 starts this season. Woolridge is leading East Bay with 3.5 assists per contest while shooting 42.5% from the field. She is currently first on the Pioneers with 95 total assists.
 
Woolridge has scored in double figures in 20 games this season including 18 of the last 22 games. She has also dished out five or more assists in 11 different contests so far. Woolridge is also rebounding at a 3.7 per game clip while sitting second on the Pioneers with 39 steals.
 
Senior guard Bri Guillory (Long Beach, Calif.) has been on fire as the Pioneers move toward the CCAA Playoffs. Guillory is averaging 12.6 points on 50.0% shooting from the field and 80.9% from the charity stripe including three consecutive games scoring in double figures.
 
PIONEERS IN THE PLAYOFFS
Cal State East Bay will compete in the CCAA Tournament next week for the seventh straight season and for the first time in two years, they'll open with a first round road game. Their opponent is to be determined, but the Pioneers will hit the road for a playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
 
SCOUTING STANISLAUS STATE
The Stanislaus State Warriors are currently 10-16 with a 7-13 conference mark after suffering consecutive losses to Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills over the previous week. Lizzy Alexander is leading the Warriors with 11.3 points and 3.9 rebounds. Zahria Hendrix is adding 9.3 points and 4.0 rebounds for Stanislaus State.
