Pioneer Women's Hoops Set to Host Otters for Senior Night

 HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will celebrate "Senior Night" prior to their final home game of the regular season with a crucial showdown against California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rival Cal State Monterey Bay. There will be a brief pregame ceremony to honor the careers of seniors: Janae Chamois, Bri Guillory, Marianne Fernandez and Chloe Kellum.
 
Tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m. in Pioneer Gymnasium on February 17.
 
WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team opened their Homecoming weekend home stand with a tough, 72-64 loss to Cal State L.A. Friday evening, February 9 in Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
East Bay had a tough time knocking down shots against a tough CSULA frontcourt. The Pioneers shot just 36.7% (22-for-60) from the field for the contest. The Golden Eagles also outrebounded the Pioneers, 41-33 while narrowly edging East Bay, 32-30 on points in the paint.
 
The Pioneer found themselves down, 25-15 after the opening quarter of play before battling back to trail the Golden Eagles, 38-29 sparked by a 7-0 run led by Morgan Greene and Bri Guillory.
 
Sophomore forward Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) paced the Pioneers with 20 points and 11 rebounds on 8-for-11 shooting from the charity stripe. She added two assists and two steals in 35 minutes of action. Greene now has 19 double-doubles on the season.
 
Junior guard Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) notched 15 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor. Woolridge led CSUEB with five assists while adding a rebound in 34 minutes on the court.
 
The Pioneers did however outscore the Golden Eagles in bench production, 23-16. Senior guard Bri Guillory (Long Beach, Calif.) led the East Bay reserves with a season-high 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
 
Junior center Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash) pulled down 10 rebounds off the bench for CSUEB. McGill chipped in three points and two assists in 23 minutes.
 
The Pioneer women's basketball team collected a huge, 62-51 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday evening, February 10 in Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
The Pioneers seemingly controlled the game from the opening tip as Janae Chamois connected on back-to-back three-point jumpers to give East Bay an early 6-0 lead. The Toros would fight back into the game even taking a four-point lead midway through the second quarter. East Bay shot 66.6% (4-for-6) from long distance in the opening half and 6-for-14 (42.9%) for the contest.
 
Junior guard Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) led the Pioneers with 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-3 clip from beyond the arc. Woolridge dished out a game high four assists with five rebounds and a career-best six steals.
 
Sophomore Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) notched her 20th double-double of the season with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Greene dished out three assists and picked up a steal in 34 minutes on the floor.
 
Majority of East Bay's bench scoring was provided by senior guard Bri Guillory (Long Beach, Calif.) would finished with 11 points on 6-for-8 from the charity stripe. Guillory grabbed five rebounds and picked up two assists in 26 minutes of action.
 
Senior Janae Chamois (Eastvale, Calif.) completed the game with a 50% (3-for-6) shooting clip from three-point land. Chamois had nine points, two assists and a rebound. Kayla Blair (Fairfield, Calif.) chipped in six points to go along with five rebounds, an assist and the Pioneers only block of the outing.
 
PIONEER POINTS
Already a two-time CCAA Player of the Week this season, Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) had another award-worthy performance as the Pioneer women's basketball team split a pair of games during Homecoming weekend. Greene put up a third consecutive 20-point performance with 20 points and 11 rebounds against Cal State L.A. and 15 points and 16 rebounds versus Dominguez Hills.
 
For the season, Greene holds the second-highest rebounding average in the nation (13.0 rpg). She also leads the CCAA in field goal percentage (.556) and ranks fifth in scoring (16.1 ppg). Greene is tied for the nation lead with 20 double-doubles on the season.
 
Junior guard Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) is averaging 13.4 points and 28.8 through 21 starts this season. Woolridge is leading East Bay with 3.5 assists per contest while shooting 42.4% from the field. She is currently first on the Pioneers with 90 total assists.
 
Woolridge has scored in double figures in 20 games this season including 18 of the last 21 games. She has also dished out five or more assists in 10 different contests so far. Woolridge is also rebounding at a 3.8 per game clip while sitting second on the Pioneers with 39 steals.
 
Senior Janae Chamois (Eastvale, Calif.) was been shooting lights out from deep this season. Chamois fourth in the CCAA with 48 made three-pointers on the season at a 34.2% accuracy from beyond the arc. She is tallying 8.5 points per game with 2.0 made three-point field goals. She scored a career-high 22 points and fell one short of the school record with six three-point field goals in a win over Cal Baptist in December 19.
 
SCOUTING CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
The Cal State Monterey Bay Otters are currently sitting 12th in the CCAA standings with a 6-19 overall mark and a 5-15 record in conference action. CSUMB is coming off consecutive losses to Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. Aubri Smith leads the Otters with 12.5 points and 2.8 assists. Courtney Keaton is chipping in 8.9 points and 9.8 rebounds.
