East Bay Men's Soccer Falls 3-0 to Cal State San Bernardino

HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's soccer program dropped their weekend opening home contest 3-0 to the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes on Friday evening, October 19 at Pioneer Stadium.
 
The Pioneers wore pink warmup shirts for their "Dig For A Cure" pink game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

With the loss, CSUEB moves to 3-10-1 on the season with a 1-7-1 mark in conference play. 
 
Cal State East Bay found themselves down early as the visiting San Bernardino Coyotes took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute of action. CSUSB would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission after adding another goal in the 40th minute of the game.
 
In the second, the defense tightened up for both squads as no shot came with out a contest from a defender. But the Coyotes would close the match with in goal in the 85th minute as they left Pioneer Stadium with a 3-0 victory.
 
Cal State San Bernardino held the shot advantage over the Cal State East Bay, 12-9 with five shots on goal for the Coyotes to just three shots on goal from the Pioneers.
 
Seniors Jonathan Cuevas (Reno, Nev.), Carter Magee (Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Jared Johnson (Los Altos, Calif.) all led CSUEB with two shots each with Magee's shot coming on goal. Tyson Griffin (San Diego, Calif.), Jonathan Ayala (Concord, Calif.) and Michael Francisco (Hayward, Calif.) all attempted one shot each with Griffin's and Ayala's shot coming on goal.
 
Freshman Juan Diego Escalante (Castro Valley, Calif.) compiled his first start of the season and tallied two saves.
 
East Bay will host their final home game of the 2018 season with their Senior Day match against Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon, October 21 at Pioneer Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
 
East Bay will be honoring seniors: Omar Coronel, Luis Salazar, Carter Magee, Ben Reiter, Jonathan Ayala, Jonathan Cuevas, Keith Moreno, Brett Fuchs, Jared Johnson and Argenis Torres prior to the start of the game.
