#21 CAL STATE EAST BAY vs. #11 FRESNO PACIFIC
Senior Day -Â Dual Meet

Pioneer Pool
HAYWARD, Calif. -- The No. 21 ranked Cal State East Bay swim team races in its final regular season meet on Saturday when the Pioneers welcome in conference rival No. 11 Fresno Pacific for a dual meet at 12:00 p.m. at Pioneer Pool.
It will be the final tune-up for both squads before next month's Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC) Championships, scheduled for Feb. 14-17 in La Mirada, Calif.Â
As the final home meet of 2017-18, Saturday's dual will be preceded by the annual "Senior Day" ceremony to honor the careers of seniors
Claire Beaty,
Jensyn Breakfield,
Elizabeth Cocker,
Madison Faulkner,
Kali Kearns,
Morgan McClure,
Shelby Parker,
Cassidy Waters, and
Yingfei Zhang.
The Pioneers are coming off an outstanding team effort last Saturday at the Biola Invitational, breezing to a first place finish against four other PCSC opponents at Splash! Regional Aquatic Center, the same site that will host the conference championship meet. CSUEB won nine of the 14 events, including both relays, to easily out-pace Biola, Azusa Pacific, Concordia-Irvine, and Soka.Â
Serene Augustain highlighted the trip to SoCal with first place finishes in both the 500 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley. She was also runner-up in the 200 Freestyle. The freshman was rewarded with PCSC Swimmer of the Week honors on Tuesday, East Bay's second individual weekly award of the season.
The competition steps up a bit this weekend in the regular season finale. While Biola and Azusa Pacific have solid teams, CSUEB's top competition for the conference title is likely to be defending champion No. 6 UC San Diego, Division I squad Loyola Marymount, and Fresno Pacific. Last season, the Pioneers placed third at PCSC Championships behind UCSD and FPU. This year the Pioneers, Sunbirds, and Tritons have all spent the entire season ranked among the top 25 teams in Division II.Â
The Pioneers own a record of 3-6 in dual meet in 2017-18, with all six losses coming to Division I programs. The Sunbirds have only swam in three duals this season, beating Cal State Bakersfield and Concordia-Irvine and falling to Fresno State. East Bay and FPU met in Fresno last season just a few weeks before PCSC championships, and the Sunbirds earned a 172.5-111.5 dual victory.
