East Bay Close Road Trip with 3-1 Loss To San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., -- The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes scored a pair of second-half goals to claim a 3-1 victory over Cal State East Bay men's soccer team in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) soccer Sunday afternoon, September 24 at Premier Field.
 
The Pioneers are now 2-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the CCAA while CSUSB is now 4-5 and 2-2.
 
Cal State East Bay led the shot advantage over the Coyotes 13-11 as both team were even solid with six shots on the goal each. But CSUSB dominated the field of play and dictated the pace of play throughout the game.
 
CSUEB scored its only goal on an own goal in the 52nd minute to tie the game at 1-1. San Bernardino the game winning goal on a penalty kick in the 64th minute. Eighteen minutes later, freshman Omari Mark displayed an athletic move where he forced the GK out and popped a shot up and over for the final margin.
 
Jared Johnson and Grant Lafleur paced the Pioneers with two shots and one shot at the frame. Evan Sanchez, Alec Hester, TJ Butler, Jonathan Cuevas, Jared Simarago, Brett Fuchs, Ben Reiter and Adolfo Villa all put up one shot each for East Bay.
 
Junior goal keeper Omar Coronel racked up three saves for the Pioneers in his third start of the season. He is second on the team with 11 saves and has a .688 save percentage.
 
East Bay will be back in action on Wednesday, September 27 with a midweek clash against the visiting bay area rival Cal State Monterey Otters. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
