HAYWARD, Calif.,-- The offense came early and often in the Pioneer men's soccer 2-1 loss to rival Cal State Monterey Bay in Wednesday evening's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action in Pioneer Stadium.

Every goal of the match was scored before the intermission and all before the 20th minute of action. The Otters got on the board first with back-to-back goals in the 5th and 7th minutes by Makenna Pendleton and Adrian Rebollar.

Senior
Jared Johnson (Los Altos, Calif.) tallied his first goal of the season in the 15th minute he put in the rebound off an
Jonathan Cuevas shot after a perfectly placed free kick from
Jared Simarago. The match would end by a score of 2-1.

The Pioneers were aggressive throughout the outshooting the Otters 17-9 and leading the shot on goal advantage 12-6.

Evan Sanchez led all players with five shots including four attempts at the goal.
Grant LaFleur and Jonathan Cueves each tallied three shots and two shots at the the frame.
Tin Nguyen had two shots on the night and
Carlos Moreno.
Christian Mendoza and
Luis Salazar both ended the match with one shot attempt.

Omar Coronel racked up all 90 minutes in the goal and added four saves to his season total.

With the loss East Bay sits at 0-5 in conference play so far on the season and a 2-7-1 mark overall.

The Pioneers will return to action on Friday afternoon, September 29 when they travel across the Bay Bridge to play against CCAA rival San Francisco State. Kickoff will begin at 12:20 p.m. at Cox Stadium.
