HAYWARD, Calif.,-- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will play their home opener for the 2017-18 season when they welcome the visiting San Francisco State Gators to Pioneer Gymnasium on Tuesday evening, November 21 at 5:30 p.m.

East Bay is off to an (2-3, 0-2 CCAA) after their first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opening road trip last weekend.

A foul and a made free throw with one second remaining would prove to be the deciding factor in Cal State East Bay women's basketball 80-79 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opening loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday evening, November 17 in the Torodome.

The loss pushes the Pioneers to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 to start the conference season. It is CSUEB's first time losing their CCAA opener since the 2014-15 season.

Two Pioneers notched career high scoring marks in Friday's loss. Junior guard
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) turned in a complete game compiling a game-high 23 points on 8-for-14 from the field. She added a team best five assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block in 28 minutes off the bench.

Sophomore forward
Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) corralled her third double-double of the season tallying 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Greene shot 11-for-15 from the floor and chipped in two assists and a block.

Senior guard
Janae Chamois (Eastvale, Calif.) was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures for the evening. Chamois scored 12 points and dished out one assist, while going 4-for-8 from beyond the three-point arc. Her four made three-pointers established a new career high.

The Pioneers shot just 34.8% (8-for-23) from the charity stripe, a tough pill to swallow in a one-point game. Although the team came up with several big shots down the stretch, if it had made even half its free throws, that might have been enough to flip the result into a victory.

CSUEB was down 36-35 at halftime but was outscored in the third quarter 27-16 before fueling an epic comeback to tie the game several times late in the fourth quarter. They finished 5-for-16 from three-point land and continued to find great production off the bench, outscoring Dominguez Hills 39-13.

The Pioneers were narrowly edged out in the points inside the painted area, 38-34 but came away with the advantage on the battle of the boards, 42-37.

East Bay had no trouble knocking down shots on Friday, shooting 49.3% from the floor for the game including 53% accuracy from the field in the second half of action.

Reigning CCAA Women's Basketball Player of Week,
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash.) continued her rebounding dominance with a game high 12 rebounds. She added six points, four assists and a steal in 31 minutes on the court.

The Pioneer women's basketball team suffered a 63-52 setback loss to Cal State L.A. to complete their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road trip in Southern California.

The Pioneers (2-3, 0-2 CCAA) begin conference play 0-2 after shooting a season low 21.4% (6-for-28) from the field in the first half of action Saturday night against the Golden Eagles.

Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) led East Bay with 12 points on to go along with five boards. She added two assists and a block in 33 minutes of action. Greene has now scored in double figures in consecutive CCAA games and in four of the Pioneers first five total.

Janae Chamois has also reached double digits and hit at least two three-pointers in three straight games. The senior guard from Eastvale, Calif., compiled 10 points, two assists and two steals.

The Pioneers got solid contribution from their reserves led by eight points and six assists from junior guard
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif). CSUEB had the advantage in bench production 18-13 over the Golden Eagles.

Woolridge added three rebounds and two assists while
Chloe Kellum (Long Beach, Calif.) tallied five points and four rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

Dominguez Hills out rebounded East Bay 37-32 and outscored them in the painted area 24-18 for the game.
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash) led the Pioneers with 10 rebounds while chipping in seven points on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor.

East Bay improved their second half shooting to the tune of 42.8% from the field while outscoring CSULA 32-31 after the intermission.

PIONEERS POINTS
Through the first wo weeks of the season, the Pioneers are gotten off to a 2-3 record and an 0-2 mark in conference play. Sophomore forward
Morgan Greene is leading East Bay in points and is second on the team in rebounds. Greene is compiling 14.0 points and 11.3 rebounds, good for fifth in the CCAA. She also has four blocks and four double-doubles, while shooting on 51.7% from the field.

Savannah McGill, the reigning CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, is pacing the Pioneers with 11.8 boards. McGill is also putting in 9.4 points on 51.2% shooting from the floor.

Junior guard
Elayshia Woolridge is tallying 10.6 points and a team high 4.0 assists in 20.8 minutes off the bench. She is also grabbing 3.6 rebounds with a team best seven steals.

SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE
The San Francisco State Gators were picked to finish 13
th in the CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll and are off to a 1-0 start to the season. They have yet to play of conference game on the season. Courtenay Brown is leading SF State with 24.0 points per game. Imani Smith is adding 15.0 points and 17.0 rebounds for the Gators.
