TURLOCK, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team suffered a heart-breaking extra minutes loss, 3-2 in their final California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road game of the season against Stanislaus State on Sunday afternoon, October 22 at Warrior Stadium.

The loss moved the Pioneers to 3-11-2 overall mark on the season and 0-9-1 in CCAA action. The Warriors Matthew Waldron converted on a penalty kick at 97:58 to help secure the victory for Stanislaus State.

Despite being outshot 28-8 for game, the Pioneers lit up the scoreboard first with a goal from
TJ Butler (Weymouth, Mass) just three minutes into the match. Butler rebounded a shot off a
Jonathan Cuevas miss and headed in the shot.

If was Butler's third goal on the season and second consecutive game with a goal. For Cuevas, it was his third helper of the year. The Pioneers would take a 1-0 lead in halftime.

Stan State came out of the intermission of fire with goals in the 49th and 57th minutes to take a 2-1 advantage. East Bay would respond when junior
Jonathan Cuevas (Reno, Nev.) put in the equalizer header on a cross from senior
Evan Sanchez in the 59th minute. It was Cuevas' first career goal as a Pioneer and Sanchez' first assists of the season.

Junior
Omar Coronel logged nearly 70 minutes in the goal and compiled five saves. Sophomore
Carlos Moreno saw 28 minutes in the net and recorded three saves while allowing no goals.

Cal State East Bay will return home with matches against UC San Diego on October 26 at 4:30 pm and Cal State San Marcos on October 28 at 11:30 am to close out the 2017 regular season.
