CARSON, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team suffered its second straight shutout loss to open the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule, falling 1-0 in overtime on the road to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.
The teams played an evenly-matched game for the first 90 minutes. The Pioneers held a narrow advantage in shots, 16-15, at the end of regulation. They put nine shots on goal -- their second-highest total of the season -- and held the Toros to five, but they simply couldn't find the back of the net.
Megan Ravenscroft attempted a team-high four shots. She and fellow seniors
Rachel Robbert and Sialei Manuleleau each put a pair of shots on goal.Â
Jasmine Corbett made five saves in holding CSUDH scoreless in regulation. She took a tough defeat, however, when the Toros won the game 4:50 into the first overtime period.Â
After the Pioneers had a corner kick, Dominguez Hills countered and pushed the ball into their offensive side of the field. East Bay was called for a foul just outside the box, setting up a free kick. CSUDH's Kendra Serrano then hooked a shot into the left corner of the net for the golden goal.
The Pioneers are now 1-4-2 for the season after dropping both games on their road trip. The team returns home next week to host Sonoma State on Friday, followed by Humboldt State Sunday.Â
