GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team finished in 13th place in a loaded 19-team field at the 2016 Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico at Palm Valley Golf Club.Â
The Pioneers shot 298 (+10) in Tuesday's final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 879 (+15). Scores were low all week at Palm Valley, as nine teams finished with under-par totals.Â
BYU Hawaii (-19) captured the team championship by five strokes over second-place Colorado-Colorado Springs (-14). Of the 12 teams that finished ahead of the Pioneers, eight are ranked in the top 50 nationally.Â
Juniors
Chad Hall and
Owen Hutchison led the way for East Bay, finishing tied for 30th place in the overall field of 100 golfers. Hall shot 74 (+2) in the final round, and Hutchison fired a 73 (+1). The pair finished at 217 (+1) overall, 14 strokes behind the individual medalists.Â
Sophomore
Ignacio Ognian finished in a tie for 58th place at 222 (+6) after shooting 77 (+5) in the final round. Junior
Adam Stone carded his second straight 74 (+4) to finish one stroke behind Ognian at 223 (+7) with a share of 61st place.
Jaskaran Sihota rounded out the week for the Pioneers with an 85 (+13), taking 99th place with a total of 254 (+38).Â
CSUEB is back in action next week at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock for the final regular season tournament before the CCAA Championship Apr. 18-20.Â
