HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team returns to the court this weekend following the holiday break with a pair of road games in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. The Pioneers travel north to close out the calendar year, visiting Humboldt State on Friday evening, following by Sonoma State on Saturday.

CSUEB will look to get back to the .500 mark and wrap up 2016 on a high note. It has already been an historic year for the Pioneer women, with the program posting a record of 22-9 since January 1.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Pioneers have not played in over a week due to the NCAA dead period during Christmas week. In their most record action, they fell 50-44 on the road to Cal Poly Pomona, then dropped a 78-67 decision at home to first-place Cal State L.A. The team has now lost three straight since going 2-0 in the first weekend of conference play.

Shomari Harris continued her remarkable senior campaign with two more stellar performances in the losses. She had 15 points, eight assists, and six rebounds against the Broncos -- all team highs. She poured in 24 points and went 4-for-5 from three-point range against the Golden Eagles, but it wasn't enough against an LA squad that took full advantage of its size.

PIONEER POINTS
Harris has been arguably the best player in the league through the first part of the season. She leads the CCAA in scoring (17.8 ppg), ranks second in minutes (35.6 mpg), third in assists (4.5 apg), fourth in qualified field goal percentage (.453), and seventh in free throw shooting (.814).

As a team, the Pioneers are fourth in the conference in shooting percentage (.410). They have been a solid rebounding team all year, currently ranking fifth in the league in rebound margin (+4.7). Redshirt freshman Morgan Greene leads the way as the CCAA's top rebounder at 8.7 boards per game. Four-year senior Remy Puou also ranks in the top 10 individually, having a strong season shooting 52.3 percent from the floor with averages of 9.9 points and 6.7 rebounds.

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT
The Pioneers will look to get back in the win column against an HSU team that has struggled this year to a 2-9 record. Recently, they dropped games to Stanislaus State and Western Oregon after squeaking out a two-point road win over Chico State.  The Jacks are being out-scored by 14.4 points per game and rank near the bottom of the league in scoring defense, rebounding, free throw shooting, and turnover ratio. Guard Catherine Rees (12.9 ppg, 41.6 3FG%) and forward Tyra Turner (11.5 ppg, 47.1 FG%) are their top scorers.

SCOUTING SONOMA
Like the Pioneers, the Seawolves have wins over SF State and Cal State Monterey Bay and losses to Menlo and Cal State L.A. They lead the CCAA in points per game and field goal percentage, and rank second in rebound margin. SSU has four players averaging in double figures, led by Kylie Keich (15.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg), Madison Burroughs (11.3, 54.5 FG%), and Kim Savio (10.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 61.9 FG%).
