SANTA CLARA – The Cal State East Bay fell 75-50 in their exhibition matchup against the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday afternoon at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara.
CSUEB jumped out to a 20-12 lead midway through the first half, but the Broncos claimed a 38-28 lead at intermission.
The Pioneers (7-2, 1-1 CCAA) were led in scoring by senior forward
Micah Dunhour with 18 points on a career best four three-pointers. Dunhour added three rebounds, one assist and one block on 7-for-11 shooting from the field. He has scored in double digits in eight consecutive contests.
Senior guard
Paramvir Singh added a season best six points and a team high seven rebounds for East Bay off the bench. Singh went a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
Pierre Carter finished with six points and a rebound on 15 minutes of action.
Jalen Richard chipped in five points, four rebounds, an assist and a block for East Bay. Sophomore guard
Juwan Anderson led the Pioneers with two assists. Anderson scored two points in 13 minutes on the floor.
Jelani Mitchell tallied three points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal, while
Ja-Mont Wilson grabbed four rebounds, with one point and a block.
Junior guard
Drew Bender compiled four points and
Kyle Frakes added three points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal.
The Pioneers outscored the Broncos in bench points 20-17.
Nate Kratch led the Broncos with 19 points and seven rebounds. Jared Brownridge added 11 points and six assists for Santa Clara.
The Pionners will return to action when they travel south to face CCAA opponent Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, December 15. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in Kellogg Gym.
