POMONA, Calif – The Cal State East Bay Pioneer women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneer women (3-6-3, 2-4-0) recorded their first conference road win of the season.
CSUEB jumped on the board early when senior
Megan Ravenscroft scored on a penalty kick in the 4th minute of game play.
Ravenscroft now has a team-leading five goals on the season.
East Bay added to their lead in the 10th minute when sophomore
Savannah Schultz put in a free kick to the top left corner of the goal from 30 yards out.
For Schultz, it was her first goal scored of the year.
The Pioneer women defense would hold off the aggressive attack of the Cal Poly Pomona Bronco women.
Cal Poly Pomona (5-5-2, 4-3-1 CCAA) would get on the board late with a goal by Amanda Duran in the 85th minute of game action.

Amy Gerace was proud of how her team was able to bounce back from a tough double overtime loss on Friday night.
"The game today was very physical and demanded a lot of the players, Gerace said."
"They started at a very high tempo and were able to sustain the intensity for the entire match. I am so proud of this team and they way the responded to the disappointing double overtime loss against CSUSB. They continue to stay focused on the importance of playing together as a team. They work hard for each other and find strength and motivation from each other. They are truly inspirational and such a great group of women."
The Broncos led the Pioneer women with a 16-5 shot advantage, but the Pioneer women made the most of their three shots on goal.
Ravenscroft led all East Bay players with three total shots, including two shots on goal. Schultz and senior Racheal Robbert both tallied one shot apiece in the contest.

Jasmine Corbett lead the Pioneer women with three saves on the afternoon.
The East Bay women will complete their road trip with a match against Stanislaus State on Wednesday, October 12 at 4:30 p.m. The game will take place at Warrior Stadium in Turlock.
