Pioneer Men Shut out by Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif – The Cal State East Bay men's soccer fell in a tough 1-0 defeat on the road against California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) foe Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes Friday evening, October 7 at Premier Field Complex.
 
In the first game of their three game road trip CSUEB (5-6, 1-4 CCAA) and San Bernardino (6-3-1, 4-2-1 CCAA) played a hard fought defensive matchup the led to a scoreless first half.
 
The Pioneers were outshot by the Coyotes in the game 16-10, including shots on goal 8-5.
 
Freshman goalkeeper led East Bay with a career best seven saves on the night.
 
The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes Diego Casillas scored the games lone goal on the penalty kick in the 52nd minute of game action.
 
Victor Calderon led the Pioneers with four total shots, including two on goal. Michael Pavia added two shots and one one shot on goal.
 
Zach Leon also tallied two shots for East Bay and one shot on goal. Evan Sanchez recorded one shot and Nils Langstrom put one shot on goal for CSUEB.
 
The Pioneers will continue its CCAA road gauntlet with a visit to Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon, October 9 at Kellogg Field. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m. PT.
