HAYWARD, Calif – Senior Day and the final home game of the 2016 season ended with Cal State East Bay Pioneer men's soccer team being shutout 3-0 by the visiting 12th ranked UC San Diego Tritons on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers honored seniors:
Douglas McNeill,
Juan Alfaro,
Victor Calderon,
Chris Arce,
Steffen Sauer Preston Hale,
Kalvin Conley,
Ariel Rosenmann and
Zach Leon prior to the game as they played their final games in Pioneer Stadium.
East Bay moves to 2-6-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action and 6-8-2 overall.
The aggressive Tritons attack helped them claim a 16-1 shot advantage, including four shots on goal.
UC San Diego led 2-0 heading into the intermission with goals by Malek Bashti in the 3rd minute and Nick Palano in the 34th minute of game play.
Although more stout defensively in the second half, the Pioneers failed to make up the deficit as the Tritons' Riley Harbour put in the game's final goal in the 70th minute.

Zach Leon attempted the lone shot for East Bay.
Freshman
Carlos Moreno finished the match with one save.
Cal State East Bay will complete the CCAA regular season with visits to Bay Area rivals San Francisco State on Thursday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. and Cal State Monterey Bay On Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m.
