HAYWARD, Calif – The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team suffered its first home conference loss of the month on Sunday afternoon, as Chico State pulled away for a 4-1 win. The weather was unkind as both teams battled through rainy and foggy conditions.
The Pioneers scored first when Michael Pavia scored on a penalty kick in the 15th minute of game action.
It was Pavia's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The score would not remain 1-0 long as Chico State's Mikey Hirsch tied the game with a goal in the 36th minute.
Chico State lit up the board shortly after when Jesus Ramos scored on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to claim a 2-1 advantage. The Wildcats held a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
At the start of the second half, Esten Schroder put in a goal off of a rebound to give the Wildcats a 3-1. Jesus Ramos assisted on the goal.
Chico State's final goal came from Donta'e Garcia in the 63rd minute. The assist on the goal was from Frankie Palmer.
The Wildcats outshot the Pioneers 14-6 and held the shot on goal advantage 10-5.

Luis Lopez each led East Bay with two shot apiece.
Victor Calderon and Michael Pavia each added one shot each.
Freshman goalkeeper
Carlos Moreno played all 90 minutes and finished with four saves for CSUEB.
Cal State East Bay will continue its final home slate when they host Cal State San Marcos on Friday, October 21. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
