Final Results
DENVER -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team turned in a solid performance on Tuesday in the final round of the NCAA Championship Preview tournament, posting a total of 297 (+8) at the par-72 Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. 
Competing against several of the top programs in the nation, the Pioneers finished in a tie for 20th at the site of the NCAA Division II National Championships in May with a three-round score of 899 (+35). They bested Newman and finished even with Colorado State Pueblo, and they weren't far behind conference rivals Stanislaus State (+28) and Sonoma State (+24). 
Chico State (-20) ran away with the team championships, topping Cal State Monterey Bay (-5), Barry (-7), and defending national champion Nova Southeastern (-7).
Junior transfer 
Connor Lawrence once again paced the Pioneers, shooting his second under-par round of the week with a 70 (-2). He finished with a share of ninth place individually at 212 (-4) on a leaderboard filled with All-Americans. Lawrence racked up 14 birdies for the tournament, fifth-most of any golfer in the field. 
Owen Hutchinson also impressed in his first event as a Pioneer, shooting 74 (+2) for the second straight round to finish the week at 223 (+7). The junior ended up right in the middle of the field of 110 golfers in a tie for 54th place.

Joel Keylor and junior 
Adam Stone both finished with a share of 89th place at 233 (+17) after carding 76 (+4) and 77 (+5), respectively. 
Redshirt freshman 
Grayson Sorci turned in his lowest card of the week with a 78 (+6) on Tuesday to finish off a consistent performance in his first collegiate tournament. He ended up tied for 102nd with a total of 237 (+21). 
Next up, the CSUEB men return to California for the final three tournaments of the fall. After a week off, they'll compete in the Chico State Wildcat Invitational at Butte Creek Country Club on Oct. 5-6.Â
