CHICO, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team fell in straight sets on the road at Chico State on Tuesday night to open the 2015 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule.

The Wildcats were in control for all three sets, hitting .256 and winning by scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-16 to improve their record to 9-2 overall.

The Pioneers (2-7) were held to a -0.74 attack percentage and just 18 kills for the match. East Bay did manage to top Chico State in total blocks, 8 to 7.

Kiani Rayford recorded five kills to lead the Pioneers. Kathy McKiernan added four kills and three blocks, while fellow freshman Deja Thompson posted three kills and a team-high four blocks.

Angie Maina paced the squad with 11 digs, and Brandi Brucato added 10. Setter Veronica Fabiano tallied seven assists for the Pioneers.

Next up, CSUEB continues its tough CCAA slate with another road contest at San Francisco State this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
