SACRAMENTO -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team fell on the road to Sacramento State on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 3-1.
The Division I Hornets controlled possession throughout the game, out-shooting the visitors 22 to 7. Of those 22 shots, half were on goal, requiring eight total saves by freshman goalkeeper
Amanda Valentine.
Sac State scored in the 19th minute off a free kick, but the Pioneers (1-3-0) held them off the scoreboard the rest of the first half. They tacked on two more second half goals before East Bay finally converted a scoring opportunity.
In the 73rd minute, senior
Mindy Castro scored her first goal of the season, putting away a rebound into the lower right corner of the net.
