Final Results
CHICO, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team took seventh place out of 15 schools with a solid performance against a difficult field at the 2015 Wildcat Classic, hosted by Chico State at Butte Creek Country Club.
The Pioneers shot 302 (+14) as a team in Tuesday's final round, giving them a three-round total of 901 (+37). They topped eight schools, including a pair of conference rivals. Cal State San Marcos won the team championship at +3. Chico State (+9) and Simon Fraser (+18), both ranked in the top 10 nationally, rounded out the top three.
Junior transfer 
Owen Hutchison was the low man for the Pioneers on Tuesday with a 73 (+3), which lifted him to a top-10 finish. He totaled 220 (+4) to lead East Bay and earn a share of 10th place in the overall field of 84 golfers.
Fellow newcomer 
Chad Hall competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 20th place after a third-round 76 (+4) gave him a total of 222 (+6) for the week. Junior 
Adam Stone also carded 76 (+4) on Tuesday, putting the left-hander at 223 (+7) and tied for 22nd. 
Connor Lawrence stumbled a bit with an 80 (+8) to close out the tournament and ended up tied for 42nd at 229 (+13) overall.
Sophomore 
Ignacio Ognian carded his lowest round of the week and contributed to the team total with a 78 (+6) on Tuesday. He finished with a share of 65th place at 236 (+20). 
Joel Keylor was just behind Ognian at 237 (+21) for the tournament, but it was a strong finish for the senior. He shot his best round of the week and posted East Bay's second-best score of the day with a 75 (+3).
The Pioneers have shown considerable promise in the early part of the 2015-16 season, and they'll look to continue that trend next week at the Sonoma State Invitational. The three-round tournament takes place Oct. 12-13 at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, Calif.
