LA JOLLA, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team fell in straight sets (18-25, 14-25, 12-25) on Friday night at UC San Diego to open a two-match road trip.
The Tritons were efficient throughout the night, out-hitting the Pioneers .300 to .047 overall. They topped East Bay in kills, 43 to 25, and took advantage of nine service aces to improve to 9-8 on the season and 5-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
The Tritons controlled the momentum all night, taking leads in all three sets and finishing off victories without allowing any significant Pioneer rallies. UCSD's RIMAC Arena continues to be one of the toughest places to win in the league.
