The Pioneers are 3-2 inside Pioneer Gym against the Toros, and the Golden Eagles, and 5-1 at home during the 2014-15 campaign.
Cal State East Bay hopes to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time this season when it hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, Jan. 9. The Pioneers look to rebound following a slim 68-66 loss at Sonoma State in which they made just 19-of-31 free throws in a two point margin.
CSU EAST BAY-CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS GAME NOTESROUGH START TO THE NEW YEARCal State Dominguez Hills' lone league loss this season came in a match of then unbeatens with Humboldt State. The Toros suffered a 77-70 road defeat on New Year's Day snapping their 7-game win streak.
ON THE ROAD AGAINThis weekend will conclude a 6-game road swing for CSUDH which started in British Columbia and will end with Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 10. The Toros enter the weekend 4-3 in true road games and 6-4 in contests outside of the Torodome.
QUADRUPLE THREATBreanne Garcia (15.4 ppg) leads the team and a group of four Toros averaging more than 10 points per game. Talia Rayford averages 13.1 points and leads the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg), steals (1.9 spg), and blocked shots (12). Tayler Champion (12.7 ppg) has knocked down 35 3-pointers on the year and Monay Lee (10.5 ppg) is the only active player to have started all 14 games this season.
HOME SWEET HOMECal State East Bay has won the past two home matchups with Cal State Dominguez Hills by double digit margins. The Pioneers hope to make it three straight and avenge last year's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament loss to the Toros which ended their season.

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURSEast Bay is shooting better than 31 percent from distance, 74 percent at the free throw line, and grabbing 11.5 rebounds more than the opposition during its nine wins this season. In three losses the team is knocking down less than 18 percent of its threes, 66 percent from the charity stripe, and is virtually even on the glass.
BREAKING GLASSThe top two rebounding teams in conference play will meet on Friday in terms of rebounding margin with Cal State Dominguez Hills (+9.2) and Cal State East Bay (+7.8) not far behind. A senior guard leads both squads with Rayford's 8.2 rebounds per game in CCAA play leading the Toros and Lopez's 7.8 the same for the Pioneers.
CSU EAST BAY-CSULA GAME NOTESROAD WOESThe Golden Eagles end a 5-game road swing this weekend after facing Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday and Cal State East Bay the following night. CSULA has lost four straight conference games after sweeping the opening weekend with wins over Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State.
MAKING HISTORY, HISTORYCal State L.A. has won the previous three matchups and seven of the past eight versus Cal State East Bay. The Pioneers are 3-8 against the Golden Eagles since 2010 with all three victories coming inside Pioneer Gymnasium. CSULA enters this weekend winless (0-4) on the road this season.
PICKING UP THE SLACKKaija Powell leads the CSULA averaging 13.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. She did not play in either of team's games last week including a slim 54-51 road loss to Cal State San Bernardino. Teammate Chiara DiMarco is averaging 11.1 points over her last six games including a season-high 15 in the loss to the Coyotes.
A LEAGUE OF HER OWNNo player had averaged more than 15 points per game during the
Suzy Barcomb era at Cal State East Bay until
Brianna Terrance's 15.3 clip last season. This year senior guard
Stephanie Lopez is pouring in 18.8 points per contest and currently ranks second among all CCAA players.
BLOCK PARTYTori Breshers moved into second place on the all-time blocks list with 79 after this past weekend. She is averaging 18.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.0 blocks over her past four games.
