HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay swimming hosted NCAA Division I Fresno State on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Pool in the program's 2013-14 home debut.
Caitlin DeNise,
Madison Hauanio, and
Hannah Cutts won back-to-back-to-back individual events, but the Pioneers fell short 119-84 to the Bulldogs.
DeNise won the 100-yard freestyle (54.50) by a full second over the rest of the field for the team's first individual event win of the meet. Hauanio took down the 200 back (2:10.86), followed by Cutts (5:18.99) and teammate
Rachel Shimizu (5:24.13) finishing first and second in the 500 free.
Fresno State's Hailee Baldwin led all competitors winning two individual events. She was first to touch the wall in the 400 individual medley (4:37.07) and the 200 breast (2:23.54). Baldwin also beat the field in the 500 free (5:12.93) as an exhibition swimmer.
Cal State East Bay (2-2) is scheduled to take part in the La Verne Winter Invite at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center in the city of Commerce, Calif. The three-day competition begins on Friday, Dec. 13.
