HAYWARD, Calif. --- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team will travel quite a few miles this weekend on their last long road trip of the season. The Pioneers (7-14, 3-10 CCAA) head up to Humboldt State for a Halloween matchup with the Jacks at 7 p.m. The team then has Friday off to drive back home and catch a flight to Pomona for a Saturday night showdown with the Brocnos, who will be looking for revenge after the Pioneers beat them in Hayward back in September.Â
WEEKEND RECAP
East Bay was on the road last weekend and suffered a pair of defeats at Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus. The team has dropped three straight matches since their emotional upset of No. 11 Sonoma State and will be looking for a Halloween spark tonight to get back in the win column.
On Friday night, the Pioneers well to the Wildacats in straight sets.
Amber Hall (9 kills, .320 pct.) and
Samantha Bruno (8 kills, .412 pct.) both had excellent perfromances on the attack, but East Bay simply didn't have an asnwer for the Chico offense, which hit .376 for the match. The following night in Turlock, the Pioneers got off to a great start and won the first set. However, the Warriors rallied and claimed the final three games despite strong efforts from Hall (10 kills, 15 digs), and
Suzy Ni Xu (11 kills, .370 pct.).
