Pioneers Open Spring Campaign with 12th-Place at Coyote Classic

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. –
The Pioneer men's golf team opened the 2012 spring season with a 12th place finish at the Coyote Classic on February 27-28.

The Pioneers, with a three round score of 906 (+66), finished ahead of  five schools including SW Oklahoma State, CSU Dominguez Hills, California Baptist, Sonoma State and Saint Martin's University.

A.J. Warren shot a one-under 69 in the final round to finish in a five-way tie for 32nd overall. Warren posted a three-round score of 12-over 222.

Jeff Cornez tied for 43rd with a 16-over 226, while A.J. Maxedon shot a three-round score of 20-over 230 to finish in a tie for 56th overall.

Chris Herzog completed the three rounds with a 24-over 234 to tie for 66th place. Greg Atkinson rounded out the Pioneer performance tied for 83rd overall with a three-round score of 30-over-240.

Chico State captured the Coyote Classic with a team total of 845 (+5).

East Bay will host the Pioneer Shootout on March 5-6.
