HAYWARD, Calif. - Following four consecutive CCAA road games, the Pioneer men's basketball team returns home for Homecoming Week to face San Francisco State on February 10 and Cal Poly Pomona on February 11. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Pioneers stand in ninth place in the CCAA with a 5-10 record and 7-12 overall. Cal State East Bay is currently on a seven-game losing streak.
The February 10 contest between Cal State East Bay and San Francisco State will be the “Battle of the Bay”. The Pioneers lost earlier in the season to the Gators, 78-72.
The Pioneers will be seeking a two-game conference sweep on February 11 when they take on Cal Poly Pomona. The Pioneers upset the Broncos, 57-54, on January 5 in Pomona.
Cal State East Bay leads the CCAA with a 74.2 scoring average. The Pioneers continue to top the CCAA in turnover margin (+5.27) and assist/turnover ratio (1.1). Cal State East Bay ranks second in steals at 7.7 per game and three-point field goals made at 7.6 per contest.
Mark Samuels, who has scored 59 points in his last three conference games, is now the fourth leading scorer in the CCAA averaging 14.7 points per game.
Roshun Wynne ranks seventh in scoring in the CCAA with a 14.1 point per game average. Wynne leads the CCAA with 3.1 steals a game.
Jason Smith is second in the CCAA with 3.1 three-pointers made a game.
San Francisco State is 11th in the CCAA with a 3-13 record. The Gators are 5-17 for the season.
The Gators' Nefi Perdomo is the third leading scorer in the CCAA with a 15.1 point per game average. Max Fodor, shooting 60.8 percent from the floor, leads the CCAA in field goal percentage.
Cal Poly Pomona has won four of its last five conference games, and is locked up in a four-way tie for first in the CCAA with an 11-5 record. The Broncos are 12-7 overall. Cal Poly Pomona is led by Mitchel Anderson, the fifth leading scorer in the CCAA, averaging 14.4 points per game.
