HAYWARD, Calif. –
Roshun Wynne concluded a remarkable two-year playing career in Pioneer Gym with 20 points as Cal State East Bay won its third straight CCAA game 83-71 over UC San Diego on February 18.  Besides scoring 20 points, Wynne added nine rebounds and three assists.

More importantly, the Pioneers (10-14, 8-12 CCAA) remain in the hunt for the eighth and final seed in the upcoming CCAA playoffs. Cal State East Bay trails Cal State Stanislaus by two games with two to play.
The two teams will hook up in Turlock on February 23.

“Right now, we're playing our best basketball of the season,” Pioneer head coach Will Biggs said. “I'm very proud of this team.”  The guys are playing for each other and it showed during our three victories this week.”

The Pioneers got off to 14-3 advantage in the first six minutes of the game.

Vincent Capellino hit a jumper with 6:48 left as the Pioneers increased their margin to 30-17.

Led by the three-point shooting of Mike Meza, the Tritons went on a 17-3 run to take a 34-33 halftime lead.

The Pioneers regrouped and took a 46-39 lead with 15:04 remaining on a Wynne basket.

A three-pointer by Tre Mauldin gave the Pioneers their biggest lead of the second half, 67-52, with 6:40 remaining.

The Tritons cut the lead to 74-67 with 2:10 left, but could get no closer as the Pioneers won their third straight CCAA game.

Mark Samuels followed Wynne in scoring with 18 points including 4-of-5 three pointers.  Jason Smith and Jurrell Turner scored 13 and 12 points respectively for the Pioneers.
