STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pioneer women's basketball team concluded the exhibition season with an 84-47 defeat to UOP on Sunday.
East Bay did a good job on the boards with 40 rebounds. The Pioneers went to the free throw line 33 times.
CCAA Freshman of the Year
Micah Walker led the Pioneers in scoring with 13 points. Walker just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
Cassie Coble followed Walker with eight points.
Tori Breshers came off the bench to score five points and five rebounds.
Kendall Kenyon led four Tiger players in double figures with 20 points. Kenyon completed a double-double with 15 rebounds.
“I was very impressed with the speed and team play of Pacific,” Pioneer coach
Suzy Barcomb said. “They are a very experienced team that competes hard, runs the floor, and finds the open shooters.”
The Pioneers held a 6-5 lead with 17:13 left on a jumper by Coble. UOP went on a 7-0 run to grab a 12-6 advantage, and extended its lead to 24-10 with 9:05 remaining.
Walker hit a three-pointer with 4:44 remaining as the Pioneers trailed 32-18. The Tigers outscored the Pioneers 12-6, to take a 20-point halftime lead.
East Bay scored the first points of the second half as Walker converted a three-pointer. Walker hit a jumper with 17:27 left as the Pioneers cut the Tigers lead to 46-30.
The Tigers responded with a 14-1 run, to build a 29-point lead with 11:18 remaining.

Lauren Lucchesi got the Pioneers within 60-34 at the 10:11 mark.
UOP outscored East Bay 24-13 the remaining 10 minutes to earn the exhibition victory.
“We were a step slow all game,” Barcomb said. “We did not shoot well from the floor and left a lot of points out there with our poor free throw shooting performance.” We will turn our focus to opening our season at home this coming Friday.
The Pioneers will open the regular season on November 9, by hosting the CCAA/Pac West Women's Basketball Tournament.
