VALLEJO, Calif. -
A strong third round enabled the Cal State East Bay Men's Golf team to finish eighth at the Pioneer Shootout on March 6-8. The Tournament, held at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, California, consisted of 14 teams.

The Pioneers compiled the fifth best score of 305 in the third round and ended up with a three round score of 70-over par-934. Western Washington shot 33-over par-897 to capture the Pioneer Shootout.

“I felt our guys relaxed and played their game in the third round,” Pioneer head coach Alan Sue said. “We didn't force shots like the first two rounds.”

“Wes really came through for us in the Pioneer Shootout,” Sue said. “He showed his senior leadership. I'm very happy with the way Wes is playing.” “Scott had a great tournament,” Sue said. “He earned a spot in our next tournament at UC San Diego.”

A.J. Warren finished in a three-way tie in 27th with a 17-over par-233. Warren shot a 1-over par-73 in the final round. Justin Tambunting was 36th with a 19-over par-235.
