FRESNO, Calif. - The Pioneer women's swimming team had some solid individual efforts in a dual meet with Fresno State on Jan. 8.
Murphy Wimer was the standout for the Pioneers, swimming to 2nd-place finishes in both the 200-yd (1:59.64) and 500-yard (5:22.30) freestyle events.
Rachel Knowles recorded a pair a pair of second place finishes in the 100 breast (1:12.76) and 200 breast (2:34.10).
Sara Bonino clocked a time of 56.63 to place second in the 100 free and was third in the 1000 free at 10:56.78.
“I was extremely impressed by the fortitude the team showed today in frigid, foggy, Fresno,” Pioneer coach
Ben Loorz said. “Many of them exceeded or equaled their times from the mid-season Invitational at UNLV, which isn't supposed to happen - especially when the Invitational was indoors, and we were swimming outdoors in 40-degree weather today. They performed very, very well.”
The Pioneers will host San Jose State in a dual meet on Jan. 14.
