ORANGE, CALIF. - Murphy Wimer established a new school record in the 200 IM highlighting a solid performance by the Pioneer women's swimming team at the Chapman Invitational on January 22.
The Pioneers finished in third place with a score of 294 points. Azusa Pacific recorded 706 points to capture the four-team invitational.
Wimer broke the CSUEB school record with a winning time of 2:12.04, 11 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. The old record was held by Julie Radecke, with a time of 2:13.67, set in 1988.
Besides winning the 200 IM, Wimer captured the Mixed 200 yard backstroke in 2:14.20.
Sara Bonino also recorded a pair of victories in the 200 yard butterfly, 2:17.17, and the 1000 yard freestyle, 11:04.32.
Lindsay Miller had a good afternoon with a third place finish in the 100 yard free, 56.43, and a fourth place showing in the 50 yard free, 26.51.

Jenni Perez clocked a time of 1:46.00 to win the 200 yard freestyle relay.
“This was a very positive meet going into the conference championships,” Pioneer women's swimming coach
Ben Loorz said. “We had a lot of season best marks and Murphy's effort in the 200 IM was truly outstanding.”
The Pioneers will compete in the PCSC Championships in Long Beach on February 16-19.
