Marcus Ellison

Marcus Ellison is in his first season as an assistant coach for Cal State East Bay Men’s Basketball in 2015-16. He spent last season as an assistant coach at De La Salle High School under current University of San Francisco Associate Head Coach, Frank Allocco.

Team at De La Salle went 27-5 and advanced to the elite-eight in the California state tournament. Ellison led both in-season player development, offseason shooting, and open gym workouts. He used his vast knowledge of filming/scouting to study opponents and create scouting reports.

He has also been involved in youth basketball as assistant director for AAU and Prime Basketball Club. As assistant director, Ellison educated kids’ grades 3-8 in the fundamentals of basketball, toughness, and discipline. Ellison also headed program service efforts in the community.

Ellison spent the first half of 2014 as Assistant Director of Events and Facilities at the University of Washington where he coordinated and executed the facility and team logistics, security, media, game day operations, and staffing for football, basketball, baseball, and postseason tournaments.

Ellison graduated from Brigham Young University in 2013 with a BA in Public Relations. During his time at BYU, he was Athletic Game/Event Manager where he oversaw NCAA athletic events such as basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and volleyball.

Ellison also was an assistant in women’s basketball operations at BYU. He worked with the coaching staff in planning and carrying out the recruiting phase of the basketball program, including scouting and recruiting visits.
