Kelsie Kruger enters her second season as an assistant coach for Pioneer women's basketball in 2014-15. She previously was an assistant on her alma mater's coaching staff during the 2012-13 season. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant for the women’s basketball and volleyball teams at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2011-12.
As a collegiate player, Kruger helped lead the Grizzlies to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II postseason tournament in 2009-10 and 2010-11. She was a member of ASU's most successful squads, accumulating an overall record of 44-18 over her final two seasons. Kruger was an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection, and as a senior, she averaged 11.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.3 percent from the field. She also spent five years as an instructor at the Adams State Basketball Academy before being promoted to Assistant Director of the camp in 2012.
Kruger earned her bachelor's degree in Sports Administration from Adams State in 2011. Earlier this year, she completed her master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Iowa State University.
Kelsie is originally from Marshall, Minn. and comes from a family of basketball coaches. Her father, Kelly Kruger, is the head women's coach at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa. Her brother, Carter Kruger, is the head women's coach at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan.
