Kyle Zozaya powered Cal State East Bay to a 3-1 series victory over CSU Stanislaus this past weekend. The senior batted .647 (11-for-17) with a Ruthian 1.059 slugging percentage in the four games. He racked up five extra base hits, seven RBI, and 18 total bases against the Warriors. Zozaya caped off his weekend with a reamrkable performance on Sunday -- he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI, and a two-run blast into the trees behind the left field wall at Pioneer Field. For his efforts, Zozaya was named Rawlings/CCAA Player of the Week for Feb. 18-24. He leads the Pioneers with a .435 batting average on the season and ranks in the top-five in the conference in RBI.
Honarable Mention:
Sean Becker (RHP, Jr.) was named Rawlings/CCAA Pitcher of the Week after shutting out Cal State Stanislaus with a complete game five-hitter on Sunday. He set a career high with nine strikeouts and allowed only one runner to reach first base the entire game. Becker improved to 2-1 on the season with the 8-0 victory.
