Men's soccer player Kevin Perez has been named Cal State East Bay's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree by Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for the week of Oct. 5-11.

Perez came off the bench to score the game-winning goal for the Pioneers in a 1-0 victory over Cal State San Bernardino at home on Sunday. The freshman from Brentwood rook a centering pass from Victor Calderon from the right wing and fired a shot past the keeper for the game's only goal in the 80th minute. 

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Pioneers and gave them their second victory in CCAA play. For Perez, it was his second goal of the season, which ranks third on the team.
