Cheslie Kakela had a huge weekend for Pioneer softball, leading the team to three wins over Chico State and the program's first-ever series victory over the Wildcats. In the opener on Saturday, the senior had a perfect day, finishing 2-for-2 with two home runs, two walks, and three RBI. She followed that up by going 4-for-6 in Sunday's doubleheader with two more homers, two doubles, and four RBI. Kakela finished the weekend 6-for-10 with four long balls, moving her into sixth place on the Pioneers' all-time career home run list. She led the CCAA with 11 homers and an .833 slugging percentage during league play this season and was named the conference's Softball Player of the Week for her accomplishments against Chico State.
