Junior Ryan Kochan was a nearly impossible out this weekend for the Pioneer baseball team, which dropped three out of four games to Sonoma State, although all four were decided by a single run. The transfer from Diablo Valley College went 8-for-13 with two walks in the four-game series, good for a .615 batting average and a .688 on-base percentage. Kochan was particularly hot during Saturday's doubleheader in Rohnert Park, going 6-for-8 in the two games. He notched four hits in East Bay's 8-7 extra-inning loss, including an RBI single to keep the rally going for the Pioneers in the ninth inning. Kochan is batting .471 so far this season, which leads the team.Â
