Junior goalkeeper Marinna Nation started the 2014 season on the right foot with a dominant defensive performance in the Pioneer water polo team's season-opening victory over Fresno Pacific on Saturday. One year after ranking second in the Western Water Polo Association with 251 saves as a sophomore, Nation was perfect in the first half of play against the Sunbirds. She racked up eight saves without allowing a goal, as the Pioneers built a 7-0 advantage at halftime. It was an excellent overall defensive effort by the East Bay squad, which defeated FPU 11-5 to begin the season 1-0.
