As a former Pioneer player, Cole Coffey returned to Hayward prior to the 2025 season to join the coaching staff as an Assistant Baseball Coach.
After playing for the Pioneers, Coffey's most recent baseball coaching role was at Saint Mary's College of California serving as Director of Operations for the Gaels for the 2024 season.
In summer of 2023, Coffey was an an infield and hitting coach for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, a summer baseball team and the team won the Alaska Baseball League that season.
As a Pioneer on the field, Coffey played in 2023 and had six RBIs and three doubles, two triples and a home run. He twice earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award and was on the CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Before playing at East Bay, Coffey played for CSUN in 2020 with four starts at third base.
Coffey's first two seasons of college baseball were played at Chabot College, where he was first-team all-conference selection in both season played for the Gladiators. He also was named Pacific Association All-America Third Team, was an all-state and first-team all-region selection. Coffey batted .337 with 54 RBIs, four home runs, 15 doubles and 34 runs scored as a sophomore. As a freshman, he hit .311 with four homers, 29 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 11 doubles as a freshman.
