AS A JUNIOR (2014-15): Qualified for championship finals at PCSC Championships in three different events for second straight year...Recorded NCAA "B" cuts in all three events...Top finish of fourth place came in  200-yard freestyle (1:53.02)...Placed fifth in 500 free (5:03.19) beating the previous school record...Broke 34-year old school record in 1,650 free (17:33.51), taking sixth overall...Was top East Bay finisher in event...Has qualified for seven different PCSC Championship finals in first three seasons with team...Earned NCAA Individual Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2013-14): Qualified for championship finals at Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC) Championships in three different events...Placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.32), 1,000 free (10:28.45), and 1,650 free (17:41.62)...Set school record in 1,000 free at PCSC's...Earned Individual Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors with a 3.5+ GPA and a NCAA "B" cut time during the season.

AS A FRESHMAN (2012-13): Earned all-conference individual honors after placing seventh in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:52.15) at the Pacific Collegiate Swim Championships...Swam in two consolation finals taking 12th in the 200 free (1:55.85) and 15th in the 500 free (5:14.08)...Member of 800 free relay squad that earned a podium finish taking third place at PCSC's.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Waiakea High School in 2012...A four-year varsity letterwinner in swimming for WHS...Helped Waiakea to the BIIF title as a freshman and junior...Won the state title in the 500 free as a sophomore...Also played water polo for Waiakea.

PERSONAL: Rachel Shimizu (pronounced "shee-mee-zoo")...A hospitality major...Enjoys traveling and eating in her spare time..Lists Mexican food and sushi as favorite foods...Enjoys listening to rap and hip-hop, especially Eazy E...Has a younger sister, Kelee...Born on Feb. 18, 1994...Parents are Kenneth and Lory Shimizu.
