Karissa Kruszewski joined the Cal State East Bay women's swimming coaching staff for the 2015-16 season after two years as a head high school swim coach and four years as a standout Division I student-athlete.Â
Prior to joining the Pioneers, Kruszewski served as head girls' swim coach at Oregon High School in Oregon, Wisc. for two seasons. She was also at helm of the boys' swim team at Stoughton High School in Stoughton, Wisc. She had a great deal of success at Stoughton, leading the program to its best-ever finishes at the conference, sectional, and Wisconsin state championships. Karissa also served as a summer camp counselor at the University of Texas and University of Michigan Swim Camps.Â
Prior to beginning her coaching career, Kruszewski spent four impressive years as a collegiate swimmer. She started at UC Irvine, where she was the only freshman on the team to capture a scholar-athlete award. After the UC Irvine swim program was discontinued in 2009, Kruszewski transferred to the University of Wisconsin. She swam for the Badgers for three seasons and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors three straight years. She also placed 16th in the 200 meter butterfly at the 2012 Big Ten Championships.Â
Kruszewski graduated from Wisconsin in 2013 with a B.S. in sociology. She participated in numerous national swim events and competed for the Irvine Aquazot Club Team, breaking multiple Southern California records.Â
