In August 2024, Anne Whipple was named Interim Women's Soccer Head Coach at Cal State East Bay. Following an outstanding 2024 season, the interim tag was removed in December 2024 and Whipple was officially named the head coach in a full-time status.Â
The 2024 season under Whipple's direction was historical for the program. The Pioneers, after starting CCAA play at 1-3-0, went on a run to finish the regular season on a seven-match unbeaten streak. A win in the regular season finale not only clinched a spot for the team in the CCAA Tournament, but elevated the Pioneers in the standings to the second seed, earning a first round bye. In the CCAA Tournament Semifinals, East Bay won 1-0 to advance to its second CCAA Tournament Championship Match in program history. Overall, the Pioneers had 11 wins - tied for the most as a CCAA member. Following the 2024 season, the Pioneers were listed as 'Receiving Votes' in the final United Soccer Coaches Division II Women's Soccer Poll. Multiple All-CCAA Awards were garnered by the Pioneers in 2024 including one First Team, one Second Team and three Honorable Mention selections.
