Former Pioneer golfer Mario Castellanos enters his 12th year as an assistant coach for Cal State East Bay golf in 2020-21. Castellanos helped guide the CSUEB men's team to its first ever CCAA Championship in 2015-16 and its first berth in the NCAA Championshops in 2016-17. He was named National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2010-11.
A student-athlete for the Pioneers from 2005-09, Castellanos earned his master's in Public Administration in 2019, and bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in international business in 2009. He is a native of Union City, Calif.Â
