Assistant Coach Matt Lisle joins the Cal State East Bay softball coaching staff for the 2014 season. He arrives in Hayward with a wealth of experience and success at numerous stops in both softball and baseball.

Lisle has worked his way up the baseball coaching ranks for the past 14 seasons at both the high school and collegiate levels. In addition to his coaching duties, Lisle has been an associate scout for the Detroit Tigers since 2011. He has also coached 22 players that have been selected in the Major League Draft.
Last season Lisle spent the 2013 season as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Oregon. He was part of a coaching staff that helped lead the Ducks to their first ever Pac-12 Conference Title.
His previous stops include two years as the head baseball coach at College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, Calif. Lisle was named the 2012 Diablo Valley Athletic League (DVAL) Coach of the Year after his team went 11-1 in conference play. That season the Falcons advanced to the North Coast Section semifinals and finished the season ranked ninth in the state.
Lisle was named the Head Coach for Gallaudet University baseball in Washington, D.C. in 2008. In his first victory as a college head coach, the school set a school record for most runs in a game (30) vs. Christendom College.
He was named the Bay Shore Athletic League (BSAL) Coach of the Year as the head coach at Saint Mary’s High School located in Berkeley, Calif. That squad posted the best record (23-1) and highest state ranking (second) in the school's 100-plus year history.
Lisle spent a year as Associate Head Baseball Coach at Patten University in 2006 after a four-year run from 2002-05 as the Head Baseball Coach at Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek, Calif. At BCHS he compiled an overall record of 58-28 and led the team to its first-ever No. 1 state ranking.
The Concord, Calif., native earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Patten University in 2006. He and his wife Jessica have four children; Alicia, Chappie, Chase and Presley.
